The lockdown is getting everyone down. It’s very hard not to be able to see your friends or to meet new people. I take part in some online yoga and pilates classes, which are very convenient to do at home, but I miss the social interaction at the start and end of the classes. I have just begin a mindfulness course run by CooleCalm, and I was surprisingly energised and delighted by a few minutes in a Zoom breakout room with some other course participants.
I had been thinking about running an online flower growing course for beginners and improvers, and that online learning social experience galvanised me into action. I have ambitious plans to build an online growing community, but for now I want to provide something to entertain and distract during these restricted times, and share my enthusiasm for growing things, which has greatly sustained me during the pandemic.
February is a little early to start seeds, except for sweet peas, so we will have some fun working through getting them ready to go outside. We’ll have lots of discussion and yes, plenty of breakout sessions! It will be a practical course, even though we are not together in one room – so I’m sending out seeds to the Irish participants, so that we can work along together. I hope to build an online forum where participants can be supported by myself, and by the other participants after the course.
